The photographer behind Sorbus Studios
Sorbus Studios was founded by Edinburgh-based photographer and filmmaker Rowan Forster.
Rowan works closely with artists, independent businesses and creative teams to create considered, cinematic imagery shaped around their individual identity and ambitions. His approach combines careful preparation with a collaborative, relaxed experience during shoots, ensuring that every image has a purpose and clients always understand what is happening throughout the process.
His editorial photography has been published in Modern Barber, BarberEVO UK and BarberEVO North America, with further work upcoming in Barber Today. His images have also been shared by brands including Leaf Scissors and Captain Fawcett.
Before establishing Sorbus Studios, Rowan spent many years working in product development and creative collaboration. That experience continues to influence how he approaches commissions: understanding the goal, developing a clear plan and delivering work that is both distinctive and useful.
Photography has taken Rowan around the world, from polar bears in Svalbard and northern lights in Sweden to grizzlies in Montana, glaciers in Greenland and wolves in Finland. Since returning to Scotland and settling in Edinburgh, he has increasingly focused that experience on helping people and businesses tell stories of their own.
